The mission of Hearts to Heroes, Inc., is to provide care packages to the deployed military troops of the United States of America which is made possible by the donation of monies/items from those individuals/groups that support them. We became a Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Public Charity on April 23, 2010; donations are tax deductible. We ship care packages, year round, to all branches of the service.
As of today, we have shipped 1,628 care packages (which includes 45 guitars) to …our troops with shipping costs totaling $44,793.92. We ship all care packages thru the United States Postal Service. We have to complete a PS Form 2976-A, Customs Declaration and Dispatch Note, on each care package that we ship.
When we pack the care packages going to our troops, we put the hygiene items and food items into separate boxes. On any items that could open up during shipment, we put inside of ziplock bags so that if they were to open, it will not contaminate the other items within the box. We also check everything for expiration dates. We do not ship any items that has an expired date on it or any items that will expire before or right after it reaches our troops.
The below shipment was shipped to our troops today. The total cost for this shipment was $206.65. The shipping cost is based on the size and weight of each box. Each of these boxes were 15X15X15 (Box 1 weighed 22 lbs, Cost – $45.10), (Box 2 weighed 30 lbs, 13.6 oz, Cost – 52.95), (Box 3 weighed 25 lbs, 8 oz, Cost – $48.60), (Box 4 weighed 37 lbs, 12.2 oz, Cost – $60.00). We try and use the flat rate boxes as much as possible but most of our shipments are going to a group.
